UCU Branch Elections for President: Candidate – Tracey Hooper

Proposed: Colin Lazarus,

Seconded: Chris Betram

Tracey has worked for the University for 30 years in a wide variety of roles. Her last position – before being made redundant during SPR – was Head of Administration for Information Services. Tracey also managed the IT Zone Migration project in her final year. She now works solely for UCU.  Tracey has a long history of trade union activism.

Tracey was Branch Secretary of NALGO in the early nineties as well as being a member of University Council and Court during that period.  She was Treasurer of AUT for several years before taking a break whilst her children were young.  Tracey has been Vice-President of UCU for the past three and a half years.  Her most notable achievements are the prevention of down-grading and redundancies of staff within the Centre for Anatomy and the conversion of a number of long-term hourly paid teachers to permanent contracts in the School for Modern Languages – this is a prelude to the conversion of many more hourly-paid staff this coming year.
